NEW UPDATES AND HELP FOR IPADS AND KINDLES

Recently, apple posted an update for all of their devices.  In doing so, it has caused problems for patrons trying to access and download books from  our Overdrive Media Console.  If you are having this problem   the people at OVERDRIVE provided the following help tips:

What to do if a title is not properly loading or OverDrive’s mobile app is crashing

If you’ve recently updated to iOS 7 on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and are experiencing app crashes, please skip directly to Step 3 in the iOS troubleshooting section below. We’re working on getting a fixed version of OverDrive Media Console (OMC) up on the App Store as soon as possible.

If OMC is not working properly (titles are not loading properly, the app crashes, etc.) here are some easy troubleshooting options that should help.

Troubleshooting OverDrive’s mobile app on an iOS device (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch)

Please try these steps in order. Once your issue is resolved, you can stop—there’s no need to continue on to the next step.

  1. Make sure OverDrive’s mobile app is closed along with any other unnecessary apps.
    • Double-click the Home button to open your ‘recents list.’
    • Swipe up on the OverDrive app to close it. Or, if you’re not using iOS 7, tap and hold the OverDrive icon until it begins to shake. Tap the red X to close it.
    • Close any other unneeded apps.
    • Press the Home button to exit your ‘recents list’.
    • Open OverDrive’s mobile app and check the ‘Bookshelf’. If titles are missing, try downloading them again.
    • Continue to Step 2 if the app is still misbehaving.
  2. Restart your device.
    • Hold down the Power button until the red ‘slide to power off’ slider appears.
    • Power your device off.
    • Hold down the Power button until your screen lights up.
    • Open OverDrive’s mobile app and check the ‘Bookshelf’. If titles are missing, try downloading them again.
    • Continue to Step 3 if the app is still misbehaving.
  3. Reauthorize your device.
    • Tap Settings from the Home menu. If you’re using an older version of our app, you’ll find settings under Get Books+.
    • Tap Deauthorize.
    • Tap Authorize, then sign back in with your Adobe ID.
  4. Uninstall then reinstall OverDrive’s mobile app. This will clear you bookshelf, history, and app settings.

Note: If you’re using a 1st generation iPhone or iPod touch, please back up OverDrive Media Console (OMC) to iTunes before uninstalling. OMC is no longer available for your device from the App Store.

    • Tap and hold the OverDrive icon until it begins to shake.
    • Tap the ‘X‘ on the icon.
    • Tap Delete to remove the app.
    • Tap the Home button to return to your home screen.
    • Install OverDrive’s mobile app from the App Store and try downloading the titles again
